Skills addressed:

  • Fine motor skills

  • Visual motor integration/tracking

  • Motor planning

Supplies needed:

  • Sticky notes

  • Markers

Instructions:

  1. Have the child help create the game by writing letters, numbers, shapes, colors, or words on individual sticky notes.

  2. Place the sticky notes around the room at varying heights and locations that are accessible for the child.

  3. A parent names one letter, number, shape, color, or word (for example, "Find the circle!" or "Find the letter B!").

  4. The child searches the room, finds the correct sticky note, removes it from the wall or surface, and brings it back to the parent.

  5. Repeat until all of the sticky notes have been found!

This activity can be adapted for a child's age, developmental level, and individual goals.

For beginners:

  • Use fewer sticky notes.

  • Place the sticky notes in easy to see locations.

  • Use colors or basic shapes.

  • Provide verbal or visual cues as needed.

For kids needing a greater challenge:

  • Increase the number of sticky notes.

  • Place sticky notes in more challenging locations.

  • Use words, numbers, or letters (you can have them spell out their name with the sticky notes once collected).

  • Have the child complete the activity while navigating around obstacles to increase the gross motor challenge.
